“I’ve, uh… I had a lapse of judgement on the mission.” You wince. Captain Madison’s grey eyes narrow.

“Oh?” She replies coolly. You tell her of the events in the hold describing the physical acts in broad terms and finishing with Juno’s intent to blackmail you.

“My God, Kyle, how could you be so damn stupid.” She growls, leaning back in her chair and regarding you with pure contempt.

“I’m sorry Capt…” You murmur before her raised hand silences you.

“Continue your duties, Commander.” She sighs. “I’ll clear up this mess.” You nod and turn away before pausing at the door.

“What will you do?” You ask, turning back to the Captain.

“I’ll speak to Ensign Anderson and put the fear of God in her.” She growls. “If she thinks she can blackmail my senior officers, she’s sadly mistaken. If this this video feed is ever leaked, I’ll see to it that it will be even more damaging to her career than yours.”

“Thank you, Captain.” You nod, your eyes downcast. “I’m truly sorry for this.”

“Not your finest moment.” She replies, her expression softening. “But everyone’s human. Well, apart from Lieutenant Kryvaa down in engineering of course.” She adds with a smile. You chuckle, the tension in the room evaporating. “And next time you decide to fuck a subordinate, Commander, make sure she’s trustworthy, eh.” She grins wryly.

“Yes, captain.” You blink in surprise before again turning to leave.

“Kyle?” She calls out. You again turn back to the captain. “Why don’t you come to dinner tonight?” She suggests. “I think after the day you’ve had, you could do with a few glasses of wine. Sofia always says we should invite you.” For a moment, you think you see a curious glint in her eye, but you must have imagined it. Captain Madison is a happily married woman and after all, her wife will be there.
